S. Markowski - W obserwatorium
As early as tonight, September 26, 2022, Earth will be exactly between the Sun and Jupiter. Jupiter will then be opposite the Sun in the Earth's sky - this is known as the opposition. At the time of this year's opposition (actually, the so-called Great Opposition of Jupiter, which happens once every 12 years or so!), the gas giant will be at a distance of "only" 591 million km from Earth and will be extremely bright.
Fortunately, capturing the exact moment of opposition is not of great importance, and conditions for observing Jupiter will be similar for several more weeks (they were, in fact, quite good already since August). We can admire it all night in the constellation of Pisces, in the southeastern sky.
