Category A+ for OAUJ in the evaluation of research activities

In the latest evaluation of the quality of scientific activity for the years 2022–2025, Minister of Science and Higher Education awarded Jagiellonian University in Kraków an A+ rating in the field of astronomy.

A+ for Astronomy at the Jagiellonian University

This success is the result of researchers, doctoral students, and other staff members at the Jagiellonian University Astronomical Observatory in Kraków, who work passionately every day to build and strengthen Kraków’s position as one of the leading centers of astronomy in Poland.

The evaluation assesses the quality of scientific activity, and individual disciplines are assigned scientific categories: A+, A, B+, B, or C. These categories determine a given research unit’s eligibility to offer degree programs, doctoral programs, and confer academic degrees, as well as the amount of funding the unit receives from the state budget. The top A+ category was awarded to institutions distinguished by a particularly high level of scientific activity and the international scope of their research. These institutions were selected from among those meeting the requirements for the A category based on an additional expert assessment.
